Location: We are seeking an experienced Head Brewer for John Harvard’s Brewery located in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Principal Function: The Assistant Brewer serves as an apprentice and right hand to the Head Brewer within Centerplate restaurants that feature a micro-brewery. They support the Head Brewer in managing all aspects of the beer production process. The Assistant Brewer will coordinate and assist with internal brewing operations, maintenance and upkeep of brewery equipment and compliance with standards and guidelines relative to brewery safety and sanitation. They will contribute to Centerplate’s goal to be #1 in Event Hospitality through ensuring that a top quality beer product is consistently produced.
Essential Responsibilities: Maximize Centerplate’s revenue and operational excellence through upholding established systems and policies related to quality and efficiency of brewery operations. Contribute to goal of 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to internal and external customer service. Ensure that brewery equipment is well maintained.
Qualifications/Skills: Brew Master’s certification, or appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on-the-job effectiveness. 1 year of previous work experience in managing a commercial/retail brewery. Knowledge of craft beer making, to include grain and hops selection, fermentation, product specification, sensory evaluation, lab work, cellar operations, DE filtration, tank transfer and sanitation procedures.
Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance /quality control processes and problem solving skills and to troubleshoot production issues. Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions. Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
Ability to work well independently. Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location. Technology aptitude for data input, software applications and proprietary computer programs. Strong skills for persuasive sales, with keen ability to connect easily with customers. Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Other requirements include but are not limited to: Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment. **Please include salary requirements when applying.**
